Hmmm...

Just browsing through various entries on here, it seems like you guys over in UA really do network on this site - so much cross-referencing going on! I get the sense that there's a very strong community spirit.

I envy this. I would probably hazard a guess that people over here in England are much more apathetic towards this sort of website. OK, so there's www.myspace.com, but to be honest, this is used mainly by teenagers and musical acts. Nobody I know regularly posts to this sort of site - this is a pity. I get the sense that society in general lacks the same level of cohesion as it does over in Ukraine - we did have this back in the 50s, but of course LJ wasn't around then;0) Our society has become a lot more "fragmented" - there is no common theme which unites us any more. The result is a deterioration in general moral values and an ever-increasing trend towards materialism.

I think I'll have to emigrate...

Wow - seems thing to be flying here right now...

It seems that I too may have found a new place to live in... I won't go into details just yet in case it doesn't work out, but I think I've finally found a decent house to live in!! Seems everyone is moving at the same time!

I think I'll have a stab at a first entry...

First of all, I reckon this journal will be read mostly by my good friends over in Russia, Ukraine, and now it seems, Poland! (Hello Inna!) So, with that in mind...

If you remember me from Kharkiv (or Kharkov, Harkiv, Charkow or whatever the spelling is these days) then you'll be pleased to know that I haven't changed very much. I am still the same quirky English chap who came over for a month, rented a flat semi-illegally and hosted a variety of impromptu parties that proved to be quite popular. I look back on these times with fondness.

I'm now working in Newcastle for the time being as a technical consultant on a large government I.T project. I get to play around with the national insurance database, which is not as fun as it sounds.

In other news, I've just bought a plane ticket to Krakow, so Inna, I'll be seeing you soon!:0)
